Profile Information

Welcome! FierySpirits is for activists and professionals who are building vibrant, resilient rural communities. Tell us a little about why you'd like to join?
Community building is one of my passions and I'm looking forward to connecting with other people around the globe with similar passions. An online community of people with ideas, reflections and some great conversations about community building is an exciting thing and I'm keen to get on board to see where it can go.
About Me (areas of expertise/interest I can share)
I live on the Central Coast in NSW, Australia and work in community development on projects in this region and further afield. Over the past 10 years I have been using an ABCD approach to my work and have been on a great journey seeing where and how this way of building community unfolds in different places.

Fantastic! How about we make it Wednesday for sure then! You will need to text me your address (will Kylie be available too?) - Chris and I had an initial chat re: the network in Brisbane so I look forward to talking with you as well!

Hi Amanda,
Well I'm going to muck around today on it but I'm on partial leave for the next two weeks, why don't I come down to you one day next week and we'll catch up & coffee? The only day I'm busy is Tuesday the 14th...

Hi Amanda,
So many times I tried to reply to this from work - the uni doesn't like it - so I'm working from home and can finally get around to it!
I started playing with this site - and started adding a group - before I saw that you already have - overkill?
I got a message from Ted yesterday saying that they are having an amazing time in Canada - how nice of him to let me know what I'm missing out on!
Anyway, I'm dedicating a day a week to get a group up and running, let's talk...

Hi again amanda...
would it be helpful to have a chat at some point about the group on FS? happy to help you think it through...and technical points too.
Best

hi amanda

really enjoyed reading shan's response below! this might also be one for the 'practice hosts' group - I'd like this to be a place where similar experiences might be shared... adn the messy path made by walking...

in the meantime, a quick tip - invite people into 'oceania' direct from the group (there's a link there) - that way, they will already arrive joined up, rather than you then having to invite them again...

Hi Amanda - many thanks for the prompt to get back.... I've been baby-juggling...
In short, YES... you are more than welcome to use fieryspirits as a platform for inviting into being a practice group if you'd find this helpful....

... so, start by creating a group (let me know if you need a hand with this at any stage), then let's see how it develops. There may be some very practical ways this group might connect with the IACD conference as well as other future collaborative possibilities ... so go ahead, and let's try to talk this through a little way down the line as we begin to get a feel for how the group is developing...

Perhaps a comparable example is the welsh network group who met recently, and are in the process of creating a platform for a lot of networking ... Shan might also be interested to help you think through how this has come about if it's any help.

Best
Nick

Hi Amanda,
That sounds like a grand idea! I've also thought about sending an invitation to a few more Aussies to join up but just haven't had a chance....
I'll be sending out some more conference info today, so I'll catch you on your email!
Hope all is well with you.
best wishes,
Ingrid.
