"I think one of the big issues around where bottom up and top down meet (or rather conflict) is in the legislation, regulation and commercialisation of infrastructure. For example, there is research on self-healing electricity grids. This would…"
In Autumn 2011, the ‘Exploring Community Resilience’ report identified some ‘hot issues’ for practitioners. One issue that was raised is about how emergency planning and bottom-up community resilience initiatives can work better together. To introduce this topic, CoP member Wendy Graham, Director of Disaster Welfare…See More
"Davie,
Great to hear you can make it to the book launch. It is chance for me to say a little more about the intent behind it and where it might go. And the book is a nice production! Look forward to meeting up again.
cheers
Tony"
"Hi Nick,
Thanks for your interest in the book. It would be great to do an event around it early next year - in a way that mutually complements your work and mine. Maybe we could do a short version of the IFF World Game around a them of interest to…"

Welcome! FierySpirits is for activists and professionals who are building vibrant, resilient rural communities. Tell us a little about why you'd like to join?
As a member of the Rural Communities core team with a special brief on wider context and futures issue and thinking methods I need to work with the emerging CoP to ensure relevant help and my own personal learning are sustained in this area.
About Me (areas of expertise/interest I can share)
I am in a "third age career" applying my learning as a strategy and futures facilitator over several decades to important critical issues in society, especially those where "synchronous failure" might occur. In other words, to lok out for unexpected conditions that may create a "perfect storm". On the other hand I am, interested in a positive design revolution in all aspects of life, technological to spiritual, that will help create a resilient society able to ride the stormy waves of change which I believe we are unavoidable facing. Mitigation is too late. Adaptation is what we need to practice.
Hi Tony! It was great to see you again at the Carnegie resilience meeting. I'd love to talk to you about whether you might be free and interested in facilitating the MMM group in a discussion about the relevance of resilience and panarchy to the way we frame up our current phase and prepare for the next - we have a retreat planned at Cove Park 156/16 December. I don't have a phone number for you .....
Hi Tony,
Yes I got a lot out of your VSM chart and notes, myself and Ben have the chart up in our office. I need to go deeper into it and look forward to doing that. Thanks for the feedback on the Systems show, it was helpful, unfortunately the show was finished and time and budget meant I couldn't use your ideas.
I will be in Scotland for the Big Tent event and in Eden for the CoP meeting, hopefully see you there. If you ever want to come and visit us here in Cultivate or the Village again you would be very welcome.
Talk soon,
Davie
