How can shopping for local food become as easy as going to Tesco?

I've just come back from a campervan holiday in Cornwall. It was easy to live off local food and crack the food waste problem by buying small amounts daily in lovely farm shops. Variety, good prices in some places and quality were more than a match for the supermarkets. I grew up in a village undergoing transformation into commuterland. I believe that leaving your home community should be an adventurous choice not a necessity born out of the dearth of affordable housing and sustainable work.
