Last month I travelled to Udaipur in India for the five-day International Rural Network Forum. The event brought together delegates from around 25 countries as diverse as Finland, Kenya and Australia to look at rural issues ranging from ecological sanitation to responsible tourism.
Along with my colleagues Sandra Hogg and Norman MacAskill I've been writing tweets, blog entries, articles and reports about the event, as well as uploading photos and putting together short video clips for the
Scotland National Rural Network website, the
SCVO Rural Team Blog and the
SCVO Rural Team Twitter account.
Apart from meeting some incredibly interesting people, the best thing about the event, and I think I speak for us all here, was the study visits. Sandra went to see the work of a sustainable forestry project, Norman went to see the work of a NGO working with tribal and rural communities in rural Rajasthan, and I went to see the work of a social enterprise working with rural women to make clothes and other fabric products.
You can read blog entries on these study trips, as well as other parts of the conference on the
SCVO Rural Team Blog. And below you'll get a list of IRN Forum content on the Scotland National Rural Network website. We're still busy writing more, the IRN Forum truly is the event that keeps on giving!
