Community Land Trusts: the movement builds!

This eight minute video captures the content and spirit of a gathering of about fifity Community Land Trust pioneers meeting at a practitioner's seminar in April 2010 near Chester, UK. Big topics included financing CLTs, scaling up, as well as continuing practical challenges for those hardy souls who are showing that there are good alterantives to providing affordable homes for people.

The film was made by Nick Wilding at Carnegie UK Trust as part of Carnegie's support for the fledgling CLT movement.

It's not quite a CLT, but LILAC in Leeds is a Mutual Home Ownership Society. It is the first affordable and sustainable cohousing development in the UK. See www.lilac.coop

Excellent stuff! Thanks for sharing

It's great to see and hear that support and action for this approach is gathering size and momentum. The Local Community Partnership here in Torridge, Devon is really keen to help promote the Community Led Planning approach and it's refreshing to hear that the District Authority want to engage and support much better than they have been. People make the difference - that's got to be encouraged and developed!

Great to see this and I really look forward to hearing more when Bob is here in Ireland on 1 June. I look forward also to hearing what Irish stakeholders have to say about thev CLT Model.
